Lori Loughlin's daughter Olivia Jade has taken to social media to break her silence about the college admissions scandal and how it has affected her. Her mom is facing criminal charges related to the scandal in which university officials were bribed to help wealthy donors' kids gain admission to certain schools. Loughlin's husband Mossimo Giannulli also faces charges as prosecutors allege both parents participated in a scheme to help Olivia Jade gain entrance to the University of Southern California.

In her first YouTube video posted since the scandal broke eight months ago, the 20-year-old social media influencer explained to her 1.9 million followers why she remained silent about the incident for such a long time.

"Obviously I've been gone for a really long time and as much as I wish I could talk about all of this, it's really hard for me to say," Olivia said in the video clip posted Sunday, adding that she realized the topic was something that needed to be addressed.

"I'm legally not allowed to speak on anything going on right now," she said.

"A part of me is like, 'Should I come back to YouTube right now?' Because it's been so long, and I actually really, really miss it. Like, I genuinely miss filming," she said. "I feel like a huge part of me is just not the same, because this is something that I'm really passionate about and something I really like to do, but I also didn't know."

Not everyone was supportive of Olivia's return. "You've become an icon for corruption and elitism. Hopefully the public disdain for you, will lead to more purposeful content on your part," one person tweeted, per Fox News.

"Her & her family are only 'remorseful' because they got caught!!" another user tweeted.

Olivia said she grappled with the decision of whether or not to return to YouTube "for seven or eight months," wondering if there was any point in coming back if she was not able to say anything.

"There's no point in me just talking for 10 minutes to the camera about how I wish I could say something when I really can't," she said.

Earlier this year, Olivia was forced to disable all comments on her Instagram account after she was bombarded with scathing remarks by social media users who once helped turn her into a "personal brand."

Her YouTube channel remained active, but Olivia refrained from posting anything after her parents were criminally charged in the scandal that saw them pay thousands of dollars in bribes to get her admitted to the University of Southern California.

After the lengthy hiatus, Olivia said she was excited to be back.
