Liam Neeson may quit acting soon.
The actor has made dozens of hit films in the last few decades and has won several awards, but in an interview with Entertainment Tonight admitted it may soon be time to retire.
"I'm 68 and a half, 69 this year," the "Taken" star said. "There's a couple more I'm going to do this year — hopefully, COVID allowing us — there's a couple in the pipeline, and then I think that will probably be it. Well, unless I'm on a Zimmer frame [a walker] or something."
Neeson's decision comes shortly after filming his next film "Blacklight." During one fight scene, he found himself sparring with someone much younger than him. And although Neeson said he loved "beating up guys half my age," he was taken aback by the actor's age.
"I've just finished one in Australia and I had a fight scene with a kid — lovely, sweet actor called Taylor — and halfway through the fight I looked up, I was breathless and it didn't cost him a cent, and I said, 'Taylor, what age are you?'" Neeson recalled. "He said, '25.' I said, 'That's the age of my eldest son!'"
Neeson has admitted to not doing his own stunt work but has said he enjoys performing his own fight scenes.
"I don't do my own stunts. I leave that to the experts, but I love the fighting," Neeson told Business Standard.
The actor further addressed the topic while talking about filming for the 2018 action thriller "The Commuter."
"I'd rehearse and rehearse with Mark [Vanselow, the stunt coordinator] and the stunt guys — you have to, otherwise you get hurt — after the shooting day ended and it was great fun," he said. "It demands a level of fitness so I was in the gym for 45 minutes every morning before going on set, but that's part of the fun."
