'L-Word' Actress Escorted Off Southwest Flight for Kissing Girlfriend

Tuesday, 27 September 2011 11:09 AM EDT

Lesbian actress Leisha Hailey who starred in the TV series “The L-Word” says she was taken off of a Southwest Airlines flight on Monday for kissing a girl, reports Fox News

“I have been discriminated against . . . Since when is showing affection to someone you love illegal?” Hailey said in a series of Tweets that accompanied her call to boycott the airline.

Southwest Airlines Co. responded to Hailey’s complaint via its website saying that passengers had complained about the public display of affection and the pair were approached “based solely on behavior and not gender.”

After being approached, the airline says that a discussion followed that “escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground.”
