Basketball star LeBron James slammed Fox News host Laura Ingraham for defending a white pro athlete speaking out on politics while previously telling James, who is black, to "shut up and dribble" when he did the same thing.
Ingraham recently sided with New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees when he said he didn't support players kneeling during the national anthem because it disrespected the flag. But when James criticized President Donald Trump in 2018, Ingraham was not supportive of pro athletes talking about politics and was dismissive of him on her show "The Ingraham Angle," uttering the infamous "shut up and dribble" line — which led some advertisers to boycott her show.
Now, LeBron is calling out Ingraham out in a tweet that featured a video clip of her 2018 remarks.
"If you still haven't figured out why the protesting is going on. Why we're acting as we are is because we are simply F-N tired of this treatment right here! Can we break it down for you any simpler than this right here????. And to my people don't worry I won't stop until I see CHANGE!!!" he wrote.
In 2018, Ingraham said about James and other black athletes who spoke out: "You're great players, but no one voted for you. Millions elected Trump to be their coach. So keep the political commentary to yourself, or as someone once said, 'Shut up and dribble.'"
But when it came to Brees, she said: "He's allowed to have his view of what kneeling and the flag means to him. I mean, he's a person. He has some worth, I would imagine. This is beyond football though."
Meanwhile, Brees faced so much backlash from his remarks that he apologized profusely for them and admitted he was wrong.
James had criticized Brees on Twitter: "Is it still surprising at this point. Sure isn't! You literally still don't understand why Kap was kneeling on one knee?? Has absolute nothing to do with the disrespect of 🇺🇸 and our soldiers (men and women) who keep our land free. My father-in-law was one of those."
