A Lana Del Rey kidnapping attempt was possibly foiled, Orlando Police said, after a 43-year-old man was arrested near the Amway Center where the singer was performing. He reportedly had posted threatening messages toward her on social media.

Michael Shawn Hunt was arrested outside the arena and police claimed he had a three-inch folding knife, the Orlando Sentinel reported. A police report said Hunt, of Riverview, Florida, had been charged with attempted kidnapping with a weapon and aggravated stalking with a credible threat.

"OPD officers came into contact with Hunt at Hughey Avenue and Central Boulevard on Friday evening, one block away from the Amway Center," Orlando Police said in a message posted on Twitter. "When he was taken into custody, Hunt was in possession of ticket to the Lana Del Rey performance and a knife."

According to the police report, authorities received a tip that Hunt posted that could be interpreted as threatening messages on social media toward the pop star, whose real name is Elizabeth Grant, the Sentinel reported.

The report said police determined that "there is a concern for public safety" and "due to the statements posted by Hunt, victim Elizabeth Grant was in fear for her safety," per the Sentinel.

Hunt had posted a Facebook video about him and the singer getting together and that he was "going to probably finish out her tour with her, obviously, and dance and talk and figure out what we’re going to do," per the Sentinel.

Hunt has served five prison terms, with his latest release coming in 2014, on charges including burglary of an occupied structure, grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft with a firearm, forgery and possession and sale of marijuana, the Sentinel said Florida Department of Correction records revealed.

The singer, 32, posted a Twitter message Sunday telling fans that she was fine.
