Kyle Kraska, sports director and anchor at CBS News 8 in San Diego, was shot Tuesday afternoon while pulling out of his driveway, though authorities believe he will survive his injuries.
The San Diego Police Department responded to reports of shots fired around 3 p.m. Tuesday and arrived to find Kraska with wounds to his leg and stomach. He was rushed to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla to undergo surgery and is
expected to survive, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Suspect Mike Montana, 54, surrendered to police just before 10 p.m. Tuesday at his residence in El Cajon, California, the newspaper noted, though it's not clear what exactly the relationship between the two men is or what Montana's motive may have been. Neighbors reportedly saw him in a white van with "Superior Painting" on the side drive away from the scene of the shooting.
Kraska, an Emmy Award-winning broadcaster, has worked at CBS News 8 since 1999, first as a morning and noon co-anchor before moving to the sports department 12 years ago.
