Krispy Kreme launched a Hershey’s Gold doughnut Wednesday to commemorate the Winter Olympics.
The new doughnut creation features salted caramel icing and pieces of Hershey’s newest golden candy bar on top of a classic Krispy Kreme glazed doughnut.
“We’ve created the perfect balance between smooth and crunchy by including actual pieces of the salty sweet Hershey’s Gold bar on our Original Glazed Doughnut,” Krispy Kreme CMO Jackie Woodward said in a news release.
The Olympic-inspired creation is the second time Krispy Kreme and Hershey's have joined forces to create a new doughnut. The Krispy Kreme Reese’s Peanut Butter Doughnut was introduced last August.
Krispy Kreme also partnered with Ghirardelli last year for sea salt chocolate-caramel and mint-chocolate doughnuts.
Hershey’s Gold is the first new candy bar introduced by Hershey in 22 years, and is only the fourth candy bar flavor — after milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and cookies and creme — in the chocolate company’s 117-year history.
Fans on Twitter were excited about the new doughnut.
