A kitten stuck in the fender well of a Virginia woman’s minivan was rescued after taking a 45-mile ride. The stressed cat no doubt used up some of its nine lives but the story had a purrfect ending as told by multiple Facebook posts.
When Eunika Brown stopped and realized the kitten was trapped next to the tire of her Kia Sedona, and was very much alive, she contacted Petersburg Animal Care and Control for help, which in turn contacted a local tire and auto service center, The Charlotte Observer reported.
Leete Tire and Auto Service manager Warren Strum immediately jumped in to assist. He rushed to the scene and quickly freed the distressed but unharmed kitten, the auto center said in a Facebook post (1).
Another employee of Leete Tire, identified as Chuck, adopted the kitten on the spot, according to the Petersburg Animal Care and Control.
“He is a long time cat lover, they bonded instantly!,” the organization said in its own Facebook post (2).
Brown said in yet another Facebook post (3) that she was just grateful that the kitten was not hurt and that it found a good home.
It’s not uncommon for cats and other animals to seek warmth on colder days in or on cars, but drivers aren’t always aware they’re there, The Pet Health Network reported.
