Kirstie Alley is under fire for applauding President Trump's response to the coronavirus. The TV sitcom star took to social media on Monday to praise the president for "taking charge" and "leading" the country amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
"I wanted to thank you for ur recent decorum, sincerity, & care towards us," she tweeted. "You're taking charge & leading in a manner needed & wanted for this country. I highly commend you for ur boundless energy & willingness to solve problems. Thank you."
Within minutes her support of the president caused an uproar.
"Do another line or two, Kirstie. It will help you see clearly how crazy your thinking is," one fan wrote, referencing her admission that many years ago she was addicted to cocaine.
"Are you serious????? What President are you watching?" another questioned.
"Did Mike Pence script that for you?" another replied.
Comedian John Melendez also took a swipe at Alley:
"Are you out of your mind? What press conferences are you watching? I watch the ones with lies, misinformation, & jabs at Mitt Romney, & others."
