Kirstie Alley Mistaken for 'Christie Ally' in Bridge-gate Headline

By    |   Friday, 01 May 2015 06:55 PM EDT

Actress Kirstie Alley got sucked into New Jersey politics this week when a New York Times headline that referred to a "Christie ally" confused some readers.

Alley took the mixup about the headline — referring to David Wildstein, an "ally" of Gov. Chris Christie who pleaded guilty Friday as part of the case about lane closures on the George Washington Bridge — with good humor.

Kirstie Alley was trending for a while on social media, but once it became clear the actress had nothing to do with the topic, the online community had and even a major newspaper had some fun:

“Either a Christie ally or Kirstie Alley will plead guilty today. But probably the former,” the Washington Post headlined its story.

The New York Times clarified the issue, stating that Alley is in no way involved with the bridge scandal.
