Kim Cattrall's brother was found dead just hours after the "Sex and the City" star took to social media to report him missing, People magazine reported.
In a message posted to Twitter on Sunday, Kim Cattrall revealed the "unexpected passing" of Chris Cattrall.
"At this time we ask for privacy," she said, adding that the family was thankful for the "outpouring of love and support in this trying time."
Earlier in the day the actress pleaded with fans to assist with information that could help in locating her brother, who went missing last week from his home in Lacombe, Alberta Canada.
Kim Cattrall noted that her 55-year-old brother, who owned seven dogs, had left his house unlocked and his keys, cell phone and wallet on a table, which was very out of his character.
"He would never leave his unlocked home without those items nor his 7 beloved dogs," she posted to Instagram along with a photo of her brother.
"Help us bring him home safe. Please spread the world."
Police have since confirmed that Chris Cattrall's body was found on his rural property.
No cause of death has been provided but Corporal Chris Warren, media relations representative with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), said that no foul play was suspected, according to CNN.
"Preliminary information indicates that his death is not being considered suspicious," Cpl Laurel Scott said per Hello Magazine. "The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death will continue by the RCMP."
Chris Cattrall's stepdaughter, posted a heartfelt tribute to Facebook in which she noted that he was her father for 22 years.
"All I can say is that I love you and I'm missing you," she said.
