A KFC baby-naming contest has a North Carolina newborn rolling in the dough after her parents won by naming her after the founder of the famous fried chicken chain.
The contest was simple enough: The first baby to be born on KFC founder Colonel Harland David Sanders' birthday (September 9) and named "Harland" would win $11,000, to be put towards a college fund, ABC News reported.
Anna Pilson and Decker Platt of Southern Pines, North Carolina, had heard about the contest and added the name to their running list.
"I love it [the name Harland]," Platt told "Good Morning America" this week. "It wasn't on my list and Anna, it wasn't on her list before hearing about the contest. I didn't need any convincing — I laughed out loud about it."
Pilson's original due date was Sept. 17, but when she went into labor on the eve of the contest date, the stars aligned.
The couple welcomed Harland "Harley" Rose at 12:00:12 a.m. KFC announced Harland as the winner of the baby-naming contest on Instagram this week.
“I’m as pleased as pumpkin punch to announce the winner of our Baby Harland Naming Contest and the Harland who will be ushering in an all-new generation of Harlands, little Harland Rose,” KFC captioned its post.
