Comedian Kevin Hart will be playing a hitman in the upcoming action-comedy “On the Run.”
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Hart’s involvement in the newly announced Universal flick, which will be written by Aeysha Carr (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) and produced by Will Packer (“Girls Trip”). Hart will star as a hitman who has trouble completing his latest job when the target turns out to be a surprise.
Hart also will have a producing role through his company, Hartbeat, THR reported.
Packer and Hart have partnered before, most notably in the “Ride Along” franchise and the upcoming Universal comedy “Night School.”
Carr is also the scriptwriter for Hart’s upcoming Showtime series “The Studio,” which is currently in development.
Hart will next appear in the upcoming "Jumanji" reboot, which releases on Christmas Day.
Hart began acting after his Laugh at My Pain tour in 2011, which gave him popular acclaim and success. He has won many awards for his acting and stand-up comedy, including the BET Award for Best Actor in 2012, A Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Favorite Funny Actor, and Teen Choice Award for Comedic Movie Actor, among others.
Hart was one of the highest paid celebrities in 2016, according to Forbes, with $87.5 million in income that year.
