Kevin Bacon's Bloated Face in Unrecognizable Selfie Shocks Fans

Kevin Bacon's Instagram selfie made fans do a double take this week after the actor posted the photo in which he's nearly unrecognizable.

"Greetings from the UK!" the caption on Bacon's picture read, leaving no other explanation for his fuller-faced appearance.

"Unless 'The Following' star, 56, got stung by a particularly nasty bee, he's wearing thick makeup (and a few extra chins!)," wrote Rachel McRady of Us Weekly. "It's unclear what project this new look is for. Bacon has completed filming for this season of his Fox drama and his two upcoming films (in which he apparently looks like himself), '6 Miranda Drive' and 'Black Mass.'" 

Antoinette Bueno of Entertainment Tonight reassured fans that she also believed the new look is for a current project. 

"Before you can start cracking those 'too much bacon' jokes, his new look is obviously due to prosthetics and makeup," Bueno wrote. "On April 15, the actor was looking lean as ever at the 'Adult Beginners' premiere in Hollywood."

Fans weighed in on Bacon's new look on social media with (yes) plenty of bacon puns. A few, though, did not take kindly to the jokes.
