Kathy Griffin criticized President Donald Trump's response to the coronavirus from her hospital bed, where she says she's enduring "unbearably painful" symptoms.
Taking to social media, the comedian called Trump a liar in response to his tweet claiming that the U.S. had done "far more 'testing' than any other nation."
"He's lying. I was sent to the #COVID19 isolation ward room in a major hospital ER from a separate urgent care facility after showing UNBEARABLY PAINFUL symptoms. The hospital couldn't test me for #coronavirus because of CDC (Pence task force) restrictions," Griffin wrote.
Her tweet was accompanied by two photos showing her wearing a facemask in the bed of what appeared to be an isolation ward.
Griffin is not the first celebrity to address Trump's response to the coronavirus. Kirstie Alley also hopped on social media to air her views, but hers was full of praise for the president.
"I wanted to thank you for ur recent decorum, sincerity, & care towards us," she tweeted on Monday. "You're taking charge & leading in a manner needed & wanted for this country. I highly commend you for ur boundless energy & willingness to solve problems. Thank you."
Griffin previously was at the center of controversy when she shared a photo of herself holding what looked like a severed head of Trump's likeness. She received huge backlash, even from CNN's Anderson Cooper, a longtime friend, and was the subject of a federal investigation that did not result in any charges.
