Kathy Griffin's Carnegie Hall show for June 26, part of her new comeback tour, sold out in one day, the comedian announced on social media.
Deadline.com reported that Griffin announced on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" last week that she planned on touring in the U.S., including the Carnegie Hall show in New York City and one at Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. – among her first U.S. appearances since the controversy surrounding her Donald Trump “beheading” stunt last year.
The comedian tweeted on Saturday that tickets for the Carnegie Hall show were all swept up.
Griffin appears not to be shying away from the beheading controversy with Trump, naming her new stint the "Laugh Your Head Off Tour," which began overseas last year and starts in North American on May 23 at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada, according to Griffin’s website.
The tour will also make stops in Toronto, Kitchener, Calgary, Vancouver, Seattle, San Francisco, and Boston before the Carnegie Hall stop.
Griffin's career suffered damage last May when she participated in a magazine photo shoot that showed a picture of a bloody mock-up resembling President Donald Trump's decapitated head, Deadline.com said.
The comedian and actress lost bookings and her regular spot as cohost on CNN's annual New Year's Eve program in New York's Time Square, Deadline said. She eventually apologized for the incident.
"I am just now seeing the reaction of these images. … I went way too far," Griffin admitted then, according to Entertainment Weekly magazine. "The image is too disturbing. I understand how it offends people. It wasn’t funny. I get it."
Griffin's return to stand-up in the mainland got mixed reviews on social media.
