Kathleen Turner is dishing on her worst onscreen kiss and in the process naming the actor she despised.
In an interview on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen," the 65-year-old actress admitted locking lips with Burt Reynolds in the 1988 film "Switching Channels" was horrendous.
"He sucked," she said of the on-screen kiss, which Turner would forever remember to be her worst. She was meant to do the scene with Michael Caine, who was originally lined up to play the male lead but was later replaced by Burt Reynolds, according to Fox News.
"I had rehearsed with Michael Caine," Turner said. "I was supposed to do the film with Michael Caine — good choice, right? Well, Michael Caine got caught on ‘Jaws 4’ – the shark kept breaking down – and I was pregnant, and I had a stop date, but he did not."
Producers had to act fast before, Turner's baby bump began to show, so they "went and hired Burt what’s-his-face."
This is not the first time that reports have cast a spotlight on the alleged hostility between Turner and Reynolds, who died in 2018.
"Working with Burt Reynolds was terrible," she told Vulture last year. "The first day Burt came in he made me cry. He said something about not taking second place to a woman. His behavior was shocking. It never occurred to me that I wasn’t someone’s equal."
Reynolds was not one to sing his praise for Turner either.
He previously stated that "Switching Channels" was not a good film and making matters worse was that he didn't get along with his co-star.
Turner said the environment on set for the movie "got to be very hostile." She claimed that the crew began taking sides and tension continued to mount. Despite the animosity, they eventually managed to wrap up filming,
"I was able to put the negativity aside," Turner added. "I’m not convinced Burt was."
