Katherine Webb, former Miss Alabama and longtime girlfriend to ex-University of Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron, celebrated her engagement to the college football star over the weekend.
While McCarron will be waiting for his named to be called in the NFL draft later this month, he apparently decided to lockup his No. 1 draft choice in the relationship department on Friday with a ring and cake. Webb spread the word of her engagement to the former Crimson Tide signal caller on Twitter.
Webb shot to national fame with the help of longtime sports announcer Brent Musburger during the January 2013 Bowl Championship Series title game between Alabama and Notre Dame,
according to the Washington Post. Working for ESPN, Musburger commented about Webb's attractiveness on air during the game.

"You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women," Musburger said to his broadcasting partner and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit. "What a beautiful woman. … If you're a youngster in Alabama, start getting the football out and throw it around the backyard with pop."
The comments sparked a stream of online comments and ESPN later issued an apology for Musburger.
"We always try to capture interesting storylines and the relationship between an Auburn grad who is Miss Alabama and the current Alabama quarterback certainly met that test," ESPN noted in a statement after the game, wrote the Post. "However, we apologize that the commentary in this instance went too far and Brent understands that."
Webb would tell the
"Today" show that she believed to incident was blown out of proportion and there was no need for an apology.
"I think the media has been really unfair to (Musburger)," Webb told "Today's" Matt Lauer. "I think if he had said something along the line if we were hot or sexy, I think that would be a little bit different. The fact that he said we were beautiful and gorgeous, I don't think any woman wouldn't be flattered by that."
USA Today reported that the attention helped Webb land numerous modeling gigs, including the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue after the game.
