Juliette Lewis, who co-starred with Misty Upham in "August: Osage County," is speaking out about the Native American actress' death and calling on authorities to further investigate it as a possible murder.
Upham, 32, was found dead in a ravine Thursday in Seattle after missing for more than a week. Authorities insisted they did not suspect foul play in the death of the actress, who "was not in her right mind" when she disappeared, according to her father. He even hinted she may be suicidal after not taking her medication for anxiety and
bipolar disorder, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lewis has taken to Twitter to urge police to further investigate Upham's disappearance and death.
Lewis also tweeted, and later deleted, a message with the hashtag
#ThisIsNOTaSUICIDE, The Huffington Post reported.
"Misty told me about horrible violence she suffered on NA reservations She felt she [could] be murdered! [Because] she was vocal #ThisIsNOTaSUICIDE."
The Upham family released a statement on Facebook Friday, rejecting their previous belief that Misty had committed suicide, instead calling her death an accident.
