Playboy model Joy Corrigan is remembering her father's reaction to her first appearance in the magazine three years ago.

The 25-year-old blonde bombshell comes from a conservative upbringing, so her father was not impressed when she came home with copies of Playboy to show her family. Corrigan told Fox News that she found his response "funny."

"I brought a few magazines home and as soon as my dad saw Playboy, he just walked right out of the room and didn't say a word," the model said, adding that she did not appear nude in the magazine.

"But it didn't matter because I grew up in a quite religious environment where we went to church every Wednesday and Sunday. My dad wasn't happy about it. My mom yelled to him, 'Baby, times have changed! It's different now!' She was trying to make it sound OK. And she was so proud of me. I think my dad was proud of me too, but he just didn't want to say so."

Corrigan has also graced the pages of Maxim France and GQ and appeared alongside Bruce Willis in the 2018 thriller "Reprisal," but it was not all glitz and glamour for the model, who grew up on a farm in a small town.

"I didn't know that it wasn't normal until I started getting older," she said. "And then I noticed wearing hand-me-downs and only shopping at Walmart wasn't considered cool. But honestly? I loved it."

By the time she was 14, things began to change for Corrigan, who was approached by a modeling agent. She "just fell into modeling" despite wanting to pursue an acting career. But as Corrigan noted, the two go hand-in-hand.

"If you're modeling a prom dress, you have to transform yourself into that girl at prom. You have to be in character. It just feels natural," she said.

Corrigan's dream of becoming an actress did come true, and she is now working with Willis once again for an as-yet-untitled film. Her success can be attributed to her family.

"Ever since I was a child, my parents always told me and my siblings, 'Pursue your dreams. You can do whatever you want as long as you put your mind to it,'" Corrigan said.

"I was insecure and shy growing up because I was homeschooled. But it also encouraged me to prove that I can do it all myself. So even with modeling, I was constantly pushing back against the no's. And this industry is full of rejection. You need to have tough skin to make it in the business, but certainly, my confidence came from my upbringing."
