Jordan Hankins, a promising 19-year-old college basketball player, was found dead of unknown causes in her dorm room at Northwestern University.
Hankins, a sophomore and member of the women’s basketball team, was found dead on Monday afternoon and the cause of death is under investigation, reported the Daily Mail. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating.
The Northwestern University said there were no signs of foul play or “any danger or threat to other members of the Northwestern community.”
Jordan’s brother, Jared Hankins, posted a picture of the two on Twitter.
In the post, he wrote, “I know you’re in a better place now. I have to make it somewhere in basketball now no questions asked.”
According to USA Today, Jared and his parents last saw Jordan at a basketball game last week.
“We talked for the last time a week ago and everything seemed good,” Jared said. “She was happy.”
released a statement following Hankins’ death.
“Jordan was a remarkably dynamic young woman,” said Northwestern coach Joe McKeown, per USA Today. “This is a devastating loss for our basketball family. She brought an unwavering intensity and commitment to everything in her life. We will miss her enormously.”
