Comedy Central host Jon Stewart called Fox News reporters “crybabies” on “The Daily Show” on Monday in a segment in which he accused the network of employing a Catch-22 style rhetoric.
Stewart was responding to an editorial segment by Fox’s Chris Wallace in which he defended the network’s tagline “Fair and Balanced,” which Stewart recently had assailed during an interview with Wallace on Fox.
The comedian took to task Wallace’s assertion while defending his own mistaken accusation last week that Fox News viewers are consistently misinformed on current events in every poll.
“That narrative of conservative victimization is the true genius of what Fox News has accomplished,” said Stewart.
“Any editorial judgment in news or schools or movies that doesn’t favor the conservative view is elitism and is evidence of liberal bias, whereas any editorial judgment that favors the conservative view is evidence merely of fairness,” Stewart added.
The comedian said Fox labels accusations like this as “persecution” of the network.
Stewart played a clip of Chris Wallace describing the President Barack Obama administration as “the biggest bunch of crybabies I have dealt with in my 30 years in Washington,” and suggested that term applied to Fox News reporters instead.
