Johnny Mullins' fire alarms got him plenty of attention, just not the kind the wannabe weatherman and Facebook fanatic wanted when he was arrested in Kentucky on second-degree arson charges.

Mullins, 21, reportedly recorded himself in front of various fires and posted them on Facebook, according to NBC News. Mullins called the videos his "Weather Outlook" segments, and he got 2,900 views on a Nov. 6 video.

Jenkins Police Chief James Stephens told The Associated Press that Mullins was charged with starting a fire in Letcher County. Stephens told the AP that Mullins told him he started the fire "because he enjoyed the attention he got from the Facebook stuff."

The arrest came as wildfires raged last week through areas in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Tennessee, reported The Weather Channel.

"We had seven new fires today but are currently waiting on verification on a few more; crews are checking on them now," the Kentucky Division of Forestry said in a statement Sunday on its Facebook page.

"There are a total of 24 fires that are burning with an estimated 25 thousand acres. Crews were able to control six fires with a combined total of 271 acres. … The fire danger is still extreme. We expect more of the same tomorrow and the rest of the week. There is no rain in the forecast and conditions remain dry, dry, dry."

WKYT-TV said last week that fire fighters were battling at least 20 forest fires that covered 11,000 acres. The television station stated that Harlan, Letcher, and Pike counties were the hardest hit.
