Johnny Galecki, "The Big Bang Theory" star, learned a 1,600-acre hills brush fire on Monday destroyed his California ranch home and several others in San Luis Obispo.

A representative for the Golden Globe-nominated actor, who portrays Leonard Hofstadter in the hit television comedy, told Variety he hasn't seen the property yet, but will as soon as the fire is completely contained in the area.

Galecki was not at the ranch, located about 190 miles away from Los Angeles, at the time of the fire reported Variety.

"My heart goes out to all in the area who are also experiencing loss from this vicious fire, the threat of which we live with constantly, which may seem crazy to some but we do so because living in our beautiful, rural area makes it worthwhile," Galecki told TMZ.

"It's never the structures that create a community – it's the people. And if the people of Santa Margarita have taught me anything it's that, once the smoke has cleared, literally and figuratively, it's a time to reach out and rebuild," he continued. "We've done it before, and will need to do it together again, and it will make our community even closer and stronger."

The San Luis Obispo Tribune said Galecki's home was one of several destroyed during the fast-moving fire that was reported to be 60 percent contained Tuesday evening.

The hill fire started at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Santa Margarita area and burned quickly across dry brush, scorching the first 1,200 acres by Tuesday morning.

Hundreds of residents evacuated from the area Monday night were allowed to return home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, said the Tribune. Some slept at the nearby Santa Margarita Elementary School, which was used as an American Red Cross shelter.

Galecki, who first appeared in the television series "Roseanne," noted TV Guide, has been part of "The Big Bang Theory's" cast since the show started on CBS in 2006.
