John Travolta’s 4-year-old son Ben shied away from the spotlight during Monday’s episode of the “Late Show,” and a video clip of the interaction is making the rounds on the Internet.

Travolta, 61, appeared on the show to promote his new movie “The Forger,” and told host David Letterman about his son, mentioning that the boy had said he wanted to work with his father.

"And so tonight, later, maybe, he could come on and say hi to you if it's OK. If you allow him to," Travolta said.

Letterman enthusiastically agreed: “Bring him out now. Where is the kid? … I hope he’s still here and he hasn’t gone over to Fallon.”

Travolta's son clung to his mother, Kelly Preston, as she carried him onto the stage before he scurried back offstage.

When Travolta tried to coax the child back on stage, he threw his arms back, grunted, and stomped.

“I think we have a place for him on the staff,” Letterman quipped.

Ben is the youngest of the couple’s children, which also include 15-year-old Ella, and Jett, who died in 2009 at age 16.

Twitter users commented about the appearance.
