Grammy Award-winning musician John Mayer was rushed to the hospital early Tuesday morning for an emergency appendectomy.

“Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed,” the band posted on Twitter.

There were no details available on Mayer’s condition Tuesday afternoon.

Ticket holders for the show can get refunds where they purchased the tickets or can exchange them when the show is rescheduled.

Mayer, 40, has been performing with Dead & Company since it was formed in 2015. The band is a spinoff from the Grateful Dead and includes original members Bob Weir and Mickey Hart. Dead & Company also have performances planned in Orlando on Thursday and Sunrise, Florida, on Friday that have not yet been postponed or canceled.

Mayer also has solo tour dates scheduled for this month that may need to be changed, Entertainment Weekly noted.

Hundreds of fans wished Mayer a speedy recovery on Twitter.
