Former Vice President Joe Biden has two new roles now that he's out of office: leading academic centers at two universities covering both foreign and domestic policy.

Biden will head the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement at the University of Pennsylvania and will chair the Biden Institute at the University of Delaware, his alma mater.

The Penn Biden Center position will focus on diplomacy, foreign policy, and national security. "At Penn, I look forward to building on the work that has been a central pillar of my career in public office,” Biden said, The Washington Post reported, “promoting and protecting the post-WWII international order that keeps the United States safe and strong."

Biden will have an office in Philadelphia as well as headquarters in Washington, where he will live with his wife who teaches at a nearby Virginia community college. Biden’s late son Beau, daughter Ashley, and granddaughter Naomi are all Penn graduates.

His position with the Biden Institute at the University of Delaware will be more focused on domestic policy, with Biden leading research into public policy solutions to civil rights, criminal justice, women’s rights, and the environment among other issues, the Post reported.

"[Biden's] vast experience as a public servant for more than 40 years will bring an important focus to many domestic policy matters to enhance ... programs within our school of public policy," University President Dennis Assanis said, the Post reported.

"Every day of my career in public service has been motivated by the desire to ensure that every American is treated with dignity and gets a fair shot," Biden said of his new role at Delaware, CNN reported. "I am happy to continue that work at my alma mater, a place that is stamped on my heart."
