J.K. Rowling cleared up a cryptic tweet Tuesday after setting social media on fire with what some fans thought was a "Harry Potter" sequel announcement.

The author first got Twitter users riled up Monday by challenging them to solve an anagram.

Responses immediately rolled in, particularly one translation — "Harry Returns! Won't say any details now! A week off! No comment" — that some felt was an announcement of a new book about the beloved wizarding world.

But it turns out the riddle was actually meant to preview a new spinoff film trilogy centering on Newt Scamander, the fictional author of the fictional "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," one of Potter's textbooks in the original series.

According to the BBC, Rowling is currently working on the screenplay for the first film, set in 1920s New York where Scamander has been hired to create his guide of magical beasts. The movie is expected to hit the theaters in 2016.

Rowling wrote seven Harry Potter books, the last in 2007, and the film adaptations comprise one of the largest grossing series of all time. More recently, Rowling has written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and donated to charities focusing on medical research and single mothers.
