JJ Abrams' Twizzler Challenge With Chewbacca Supports Autism Awareness

By    |   Wednesday, 22 April 2015 08:28 PM EDT

J.J. Adams, director of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” accepted Jimmy Kimmel’s Twizzler Challenge with Chewbacca, and the stunt in honor of Autism Awareness Month has gone viral.

Kimmel accepted the challenge with Rihanna on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” earlier this month, declaring it “much better than the ice bucket challenge,” in reference to last year’s fundraiser for ALS.

On Tuesday’s episode, Adams accepted the challenge and got some fur in his mouth before passing the challenge on to Jennifer Aniston and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" cast member Guillermo.

“I cannot wait,” Guillermo said.

The Twizzler Challenge started with "Today Show" co-host Willie Geist and Uzo Aduba of “Orange is the New Black” reenacting the spaghetti scene from “Lady and the Tramp” on Jon Stewart's “Night of Too Many Stars” fundraiser.

Meredith Vieira invited Geist to do it again on her show and donated $5,000 to NYC4A, a nonprofit focused on autism spectrum disorder, according to the website.

Participants are encouraged to donate to programs, schools, and services that help people with autism.

Other celebrities who have participated include Regis Philbin and Hoda Kotb, and Matt Lauer and Kathie Lee Gifford.

The challenge has made the rounds on Twitter.
