Jim Rome: Marching Band Members Drill Commentator for 'Dork' Comment

CBS sports radio talk show host Jim Rome is in trouble with band members everywhere after tweeting Thursday, “Is there anybody not in a marching band who thinks those dorks running around with their instruments are cool?”

As a BuzzFeed commentator put it, “Recently, CBS Sports Network Commentator Jim Rome (@jimrome) decided to tick off a countless amount of musicians with one of his most controversial tweets yet. He doesn’t realize how many people think ‘those dorks are cool.’”

Rome deleted the tweet and issued an apology, but it was too late. He’s now seeing how cool and clever those “dorks” are as a hashtag campaign, #MarchonRome, points out the error of his ways.

In his apology, Rome said, “Band nation - I hear you. I was out of line. I apologize. I do not condone bullying of any kind and that was not my intent.”
