For a limited time, New York-based air carrier JetBlue will deliver genuine New York pizza to customers in Los Angeles as a part of its “pie in the sky” promotion.
The offer will run for three days only — May 9 through May 11 — and JetBlue will cap the orders at 350 pizzas per day. Customers have their choice of either plain cheese, at $12 per pie, or pepperoni at $15, delivered from East Harlem’s Patsy’s Pizzeria.
Why did JetBlue pick that particular pizzeria out of thousands in the Big Apple?
“Patsy’s Pizzeria of East Harlem is a prized New York City institution,” JetBlue explained. “We wanted to share a slice from our hometown with Los Angeles residents, connecting them to a truly authentic taste of New York City.”
L.A. residents simply have to enter their zip code to check eligibility and place their order at JetBlue.Pizza. They can then track their pizza order as it wings its way across the country.
The company promises customers won’t have to reheat the pizza when it’s delivered.
“The pizza will be delivered hot and ready to eat to your door,” JetBlue said in its “frequently asked questions” section.
Filmmaker Spike Lee, who has ties to both Harlem and Los Angeles, is helping share the pizza promotion
In case you’re wondering, customers can’t use their TrueBlue Points to pay for the pizza.
