JetBlue's assistance to a French bulldog flying from Florida to Massachusetts with its owners has warmed the hearts of pet lovers on social media as the dog started to become ill and received an oxygen mask, MassLive.com reported Sunday.

Michele and Steven Burt are crediting the fast thinking of JetBlue flight attendants Renaud Fenster and Diane Asher with saving the life of their dog, Darcy, who is 3 years old, the website stated.

The couple and their three dogs were on the JetBlue flight to Worcester, Massachusetts, Thursday when one dog appeared to become ill, pushing her head against the mesh part of her carrier, Michele Burt wrote to the airline, per MassLive.com.

"I noticed that her tongue was blue, and I am aware that is a sign of insufficient oxygen (Hypoxia), so I pulled her out from under the seat and placed her on my lap to cool down and help her relax as she was panicking and breathing frantically," Michele wrote, according to MassLive.com.

Fenster and Asher brought ice bags for Darcy, but that initially failed to cool the French bulldog down, according to MassLive.com.

"Renaud, who explained that he also had a French Bulldog 'Penelope,' brought a small oxygen tank with a mask attached and offered it saying, 'Maybe this will help,'" Burt wrote, according to the website.

"I placed the mask over her face, and within a few minutes she became alert and after a short time she didn't want the mask. I believe Renaud and Diane saved a life, some may reduce the value of the life because Darcy is a canine, I do not," she continued.

Fenster told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Monday that he was passing through the cabin when he saw Burt with Darcy outside of her crate.

"And I believe the dog passed out," Fenster told "Good Morning America." "The dog started panting very rapidly and uncontrollably, and so as a French bulldog owner myself, I knew the dog was overheating and needed some ice. I brought the dog some ice, and that didn't do anything.

"I decided that we needed to consider using oxygen to support the animal. So I called the captain, and I told him, 'I think I need to use some oxygen,' and he said, 'Go ahead.' And right then and there, placed the oxygen on the dog and the dog revived like nothing else," he continued.

JetBlue said in a statement and it strives to take care of its passengers, including its four-legged ones, ABC News said.

"We're thankful for our crew's quick thinking and glad everyone involved was breathing easier when the plane landed in Worcester," the JetBlue statement said.

JetBlue received plenty thumbs-up on social media for its treatment of Darcy.
