Jessica Fuchs, a high school science teacher in Washington state, was arrested Thursday for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student, and investigators said she asked the student to lie after her husband walked in on them.
"Well protect me as best you can," Fuchs, 26, allegedly wrote in a text message to the 10th grade student after the investigation was opened in late February,
KOMO-TV reported.
"Remember NOTHING COMES OUT EVER! About anything, you have been to my house only once. Lie like you have NEVER lied before and try to get your mom to side with you completely and say this was all a misunderstanding! And tell the investigator that!"
The Bainbridge Island Review reported that Fuchs pleaded not guilty on Monday in Kitsap County Superior Court to her felony charges of first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor and tampering with a witness, and a misdemeanor charge of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
Investigators said that in addition to the text message asking the student to lie, Fuchs also did an Internet search for "how to permanently delete cellphone records" on a school laptop. She also searched "Paternity Tests."
Fuchs' conduct, which came to light after the student told his mother, also included sending sexually explicit multimedia messages to him on the Snapchat smartphone app, including one titled "For my baby."
"I know a lot of people are like, 'He's a boy and it must be great for him, every teenaged boy's dream.' But I really think it isn't. I really think it's just taking advantage of a young boy," said one high school senior, Parker Taylor.
"I'm appalled by it. It's so disturbing," said another senior, Sophie Martof.
The 16-year-old is no longer enrolled at the high school.
