Jesse Matthew Jr., the only suspect in the homicide case of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham, will be charged with first-degree murder on Tuesday, sources say.
According to CBS affiliate WTVR, Albemarle County Police Chief Col. Steve Sellers and Albemarle County Commonwealth’s Attorney Denise Lunsford was holding a press conference at 11 a.m. to discuss new developments in not only the Graham case, but cases related to two other young women as well.
Matthew, 32, is currently in police custody and has been charged with abduction with intent to defile. That charge is likely to be increased.
Graham was last seen leaving a Charlottesville bar in September, and security camera footage shows Matthew approaching her and walking her off camera. Graham's remains were found a month later on an abandoned property.
Matthew has also been forensically linked to the death of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington, whose body was found in the same area in 2010. Harrington had disappeared after attending a Metallica concert just months before, and Matthew's DNA was later found on her Pantera t-shirt.
According to ABC News, police were also able to make a forensic connection between Matthew and a sexual assault victim in Fairfax City, Virginia.
Just days after Graham disappeared, Matthew fled a Charlottesville police station in a speeding car, and was arrested a week later after being found sleeping on a Texas beach.
