Spurgeon Elliot Seewald was revealed Wednesday as the name of the baby boy born to reality TV stars Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald last week.
"One guy that has really impacted my life is a great preacher of the past, Charles Haddon Spurgeon," Seewald
explained in an interview with People magazine.
According to the publication, Spurgeon was considered the most famous preacher in England during his lifetime, 1834-1892. He founded Spurgeon's College, a theological institution in London, and frequently preached to audiences of 10,000 or more.
Baby Spurgeon's middle name, Elliot, was given in honor of late missionaries Jim and Elisabeth Elliot who spread the gospel in South America.
"We want to give him a strong name, with a lot of meaning," Duggar, 23, told the magazine.
"He is going to have this name for the rest of his life," added Seewald, 20.
Though his full name is Spurgeon, the baby goes by his nickname, Quincy.
"His nickname has been Quincy since we first found out we were pregnant," Duggar told People.
Baby Spurgeon was born on Nov. 5, weighing 9 lbs. 11 oz. and measuring 21.5 inches long.
During her pregnancy, Duggar solicited baby name suggestions from her fans, and received more than 100,000 responses.
Duggar also explained that, unlike her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, she will not follow a letter theme — "J" nor "S" — in naming her future kids.
According to TLC, Spurgeon has the same birth year as his 7-month-old cousin Israel, born to Duggar's older sister Jill and her husband Derick Dillard.
