R&B artist Jeremih is out of the intensive care unit but remains hospitalized following a COVID-19 diagnosis that left him in critical condition. The rapper's family shared the news Saturday in a statement to Entertainment Tonight.

"Jeremih has been transferred out of ICU. He will spend the rest of his recovery time in a regular hospital room," the statement said. "The true healing begins. Thank you all for your prayers and wishes."

Last week it emerged that Jeremih, whose real name is Jeremy Felton, had been placed on a ventilator while suffering "severe COVID-19 health complications." In a statement, his family asked for prayers as they waited to hear whether or not he would recover from the virus that "viciously attacked his body."

"The COVID-19 condition he's experiencing is rare for a young man his age without underlying conditions," the statement read.

"Unfortunately for Jeremih, COVID-19 viciously attacked his body," it continued, adding that Jeremih was not out of the woods and that family and friends were praying he would start breathing on his own again.

On Thursday, his agent told Variety that the ventilator had been removed but Jeremih was still in the ICU in "critical condition." Now Jeremih is on the road to recovery and in good spirits, according to the R&B star's DJ, TTaylor.

"I jus got the best phone call of the year," he said in an Instagram story, according to Entertainment Weekly. "Jus got off the phone wit Jeremih & Adamo. When I say he was jus laughing and crying and praising God. WOW, God is good."
