Jeff Bridges has opened up about his lymphoma and the emotions he has been experiencing since his diagnosis. "The Big Lebowski" star shared a sentimental new blog post explaining that his cancer battle had taught him to see the positives in his life.
"This cancer thing is bringing on feelings of preciousness, and gratitude, and good old fashion love, and lots of it, big time," he wrote. "I'm feeling so much of it comin' my way, and man, I appreciate it. It's contagious, all this love, like some kind of positive virus."
Bridges explained that he was feeling good about his journey ahead.
"This cancer is making me appreciate my mentality, appreciate impermanence. I'm realizing if I have s--t to share, now's the time."
The 70-year-old actor also took to Instagram with an update and to thank his fans.
"I want to thank you all for reaching out during this time, it feels good getting all the well wishes and love" he captioned a photo of himself in a gown, hooked up to an IV. Bridges promised his followers that he would provide regular health updates.
Earlier this month Bridges revealed on Twitter that he had been diagnosed with lymphoma. He did not reveal many details about the disease, but was positive about treatment.
"As the Dude would say.. New S--T has come to light. I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery," he wrote.
"I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends," Bridges added. "Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together."
