Jeb Bush 2016 Presidential Campaign Decision to Be Made by End of Year

Jeb Bush has announced that he will make a decision regarding a run for president in 2016 by the end of the year.

In an interview with "Fox News Sunday," the former governor of Florida said that he will base his decision on whether he, or any candidate, could "run with a hopeful, optimistic message, hopefully with enough detail to give people a sense that it’s not just idle words and not get back into the vortex of the mud fight," according to The Washington Post.

"In my case, that means can one do it joyfully without being tied to all the convention of the here and now?" he said.

Bush spoke with Fox from the 25th anniversary celebration of his father's inauguration, which took place at the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library in College Station, Texas. The 61-year-old younger brother of President George W. Bush served two terms as the governor of Florida form 1999 to 2007.

Though Bush's advisers have claimed that he's not actively pursuing a 2016 run, a Public Policy Polling survey last month showed that Bush is the strongest potential GOP candidate against likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, 47-44 percent.

Bush's comments on Sunday come a week after news broke that a group of influential Republicans have banded together to begin a "behind-the-scenes campaign to draft [Bush] into the 2016 presidential race," according to the Post.
