When Jaxon's PetSmart toy alligator was discontinued, an internet stranger stepped in to make sure the little dog’s plush plaything still had eight more lives to go.

Kelli Brown of Kentucky put out a plea on Twitter in January after learning that the PetSmarts around Bowling Green had stopped selling the green alligator toys that her 12-year-old Chihuahua-mix had enjoyed chewing to pieces for years, the "Today" show reported.

"I went home kind of panicked," Brown told Inside Edition. "We spent hours Googling online. They were gone everywhere."

After Brown's tweet circulated, it reached Kendyl Kercho, 21, a college student who worked at the local PetSmart in Lake Worth, Texas, "Today" said.

It took a bit of digging, but Kercho found a clearance bin with eight of the toys at her store.

"I just didn't want him to go without someone trying," Kercho told "Today," estimating that she spent about $20. "Really, the greatest part of it is seeing how happy the little dog was. I just love dogs so much."

Brown celebrated the gifts on social media.

Brown told Inside Edition she hopes to ration out the toys as Jaxon is ready for them.

"Hopefully we can't go through all of those in his lifetime," Brown said.
