Janet Jackson called police in California to check on her year-old son Eissa who was spending the weekend with his father Wissam Al Mana after the singer was phoned by a nanny who reportedly was frantic about Al Mana’s behavior, Entertainment Tonight reported.
The unidentified nanny was helping to care for boy while he was with Jackson’s estranged husband at the Nobu Hotel in Malibu. She called Jackson from a bathroom, saying she was frightened by Wissam Al Mana’s aggressive behavior towards her.
The nanny was "terrified by his behavior and locked herself in a bathroom, so she could contact Janet," who proceeded to call the police, Janet Jackson's brother Randy Jackson told ET.
A watch commander with the Malibu County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that police were called to check on Eissa Al Mana at around 10 p.m. Saturday.
Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana split just three months after welcoming their son into the world early last year, E! News reported.
The couple married in 2012 and all appeared well between them when Eissa Al Mana was born.
However, E! News cited an unnamed source who said the couple were not agreeing on many important topics, such as religion, and blamed their cultural differences as reason for their separation.
"Janet and Wissam don't see eye to eye on many things," the source said.
"One of the many divorcing factors was their religious beliefs. Wissam and Janet did not feel that they were on the same page when it came to this and the way they wanted their child to get raised. Janet is more of a free spirit than Wissam. Cultural difference and backgrounds played a major role."
