Janet Jackson will be auctioning over 1,000 personal items, including spanking crops, her wedding dress, and a condom vending machine to raise funds for charity.
The items will be sold off by Julien's Auction and proceeds will go to Compassion International, a child-advocacy ministry that works with churches across the globe to liberate children from spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty.
The crops are available at a ballpark estimate of $200 to $400, while the condom machine has been given a starting bid of $50, Daily Mail reported.
Jackson also will be auctioning costumes that were worn throughout her decades-long career. Among her outfits to be put on sale is the 1989 Rhythm Nation ensemble as well as the silver coat she wore in the 1995 "Scream" music video with brother Michael Jackson, according to Julien's Auction.
Also on auction will be dozens of other outfits that Jackson wore in her music videos and on tour as well as her wedding dress and personal memorabilia, including toys and gifts from her famous brothers.
"Janet has never done anything like this before. We’ve approached her so many times, and it has always been very hard to find anything at auction from her because she kept and archived everything," said Martin Nolan, executive director of Julien’s Auctions, to The Guardian.
"The 10th and youngest Jackson sibling is believed to have spent most of the year living quietly at her London home with her four-year-old son, directing an international clearout of her closets."
Nolan added that organizing the auction was "cathartic" for Jackson.
"She’s had this stuff in storage for years, and in her homes in Los Angeles, New York, and London," he continued. "She’s been incredibly hands-on with sending personal notes on each piece, remembering what she wore and when, which we’ve included in the catalogue. She now feels it’s time to let go."
The three-day auction will take place at Julien's on Jackson's birthday weekend, from May 14 to May 16.
