Jalen Ramsey’s tweet threatening “war” against the media earned him a one-week suspension by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Teammate Dante Fowler, whom Ramsey was defending, also was suspended.
Fowler got into a fight with teammate Yannick Ngakoue following practice on Sunday and the two had to be separated twice by others on the team, USA Today reported. Ramsey saw members of the media recording the altercation on their phones and yelled at them to stop, using profane language toward them.
Ramsey later directed a tweet toward Florida Times Union reporter Phillip Heilman and other members of the media, saying “if y’all want war, we got some for y’all.”
Ramsey also later tweeted, “I’m always gone take up for my teammates kus I know what type of men and players they are forreal! Love my dawgs! If you don’t like it, oh well. God bless.”
The suspension for "violating team rules and conduct unbecoming of a Jaguars football player" means Ramsey and Fowler will not be able to practice this week, nor will they be able to play in Saturday’s preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, KDKA reported.
Ramsey, 23, was an all-pro selection last season after intercepting four passes as part of the Jaguars’ top-ranked pass defense.
Fowler, 24, just came off the physically unable to perform list on Saturday and is in his final season under a rookie contract after the Jaguars passed on his fifth-year option.
