Jacob Staudenmaier's "prom-posal" video to Academy Award-winning actress Emma Stone has gone viral on social media and has been retweeted more than 16,000 times on Twitter.
Staudenmaier, 17, who is an aspiring filmmaker from Pheonix, re-created the opening dance scene from the film "La La Land," using friends, said the Arizona Republic. He also rewrote the lyrics to the song, to invite Stone, 28, to his Arcadia High School prom.
"It's going better than expected," Staudenmaier said about the video's reception, even though he admitted that Stone has not responded.
"It started with the kind of crazy idea of saying, 'Yeah, maybe I'll go with Emma Stone to the prom," said Staudenmaier. "I decided if I was going to do this, I really needed to do it big."
Stone won her first Oscar earlier this year for her portrayal of Mia, opposite Ryan Gosling in "La La Land." The movie has made $150.4 million domestically and another $285.9 million overseas, according to Box Office Mojo.
"I saw 'La La Land' and loved it a lot," Staudenmaier told ABC News. "It was one of my favorite films and I've always liked Emma Stone as an actor and I guess that spawned the idea of maybe asking her to the prom."
"Whether she says yes or no I think just a response in general would be amazing, but I guess if she did say yes then that would be the best outcome possible. But either way I've enjoyed everything that's happened so far."
Staudenmaier found plenty of support on social media.
