iOS 7 Updates, Motion Graphics Making People Feel Sick, Nauseated

Apple’s new iOS 7 updates may be making some people sick.

The tech giant’s new operating system has been downloaded 200 million times since its recent release, but some users are complaining that the animations are making them seasick or giving them a sense of vertigo.

“I had severe vertigo the minute I starting using my iPad with iOS 7,” said one user who was quoted by The Verge, an Internet tech site. “I thought I was going crazy today after I updated my phone and noticed I was feeling queasy every time I used it. Now I see I am not alone! I just used my phone for about 20 minutes, and now I feel like I’m going to vomit. There has to be a way to turn this off!”

Indeed, Apple has included a “Reduce Motion” option to reduce the discomfort caused by the home screen, but The Verge reports that many users say the problem runs deeper.

“Most are pointing to the zooming effects that are now ubiquitous across iOS when opening and closing apps or entering the multitasking menu,” the website says.

A check of what users are saying on Twitter reaffirms the less-than-peaceful, queasy feeling.

In a statement shortly after the software was released last week, Apple boasted that “More than 200 million iOS devices are now running the completely redesigned iOS7, making it the fastest software upgrade in history,” VentureBeat reported.

The Los Angeles Times reported that IT managers at offices and schools nationwide struggled to keep their systems working as their employees rushed to download the new operating system to their Apple products.
