A Chicago police officer is under investigation for chauffeuring Hulk Hogan to the airport in his squad car, sirens blazing, while on duty.
The probe was launched after the former-pro wrestler posted video footage of his joyride along the tarmac of O’Hare International Airport to Facebook under the post that said "Thank you Chicago PD much love!!!!!," The Chicago Tribune reported.
"My Uber's got a siren," Hogan is heard saying in the three-minute clip, which has since been removed.
"We love Chicago PD," his long-time manager Jimmy Hart, who was seated in the backseat of the squad car, chimes in. "Don’t get in trouble doing this," he adds, addressing the unidentified officer who assures him that his sergeant is "all for it."
The Chicago Police Department said Monday in a statement to Fox News that the ride was "not authorized" and there was "no knowledge that it was taking place."
Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesperson for the department, added that the incident was of worrying.
"An internal affairs investigation has been opened into the officer and supervisors at the airport," Guglielmi said. "We are in the process of revoking credentials for the officer to operate a vehicle on airport grounds pending the investigation."
It is not clear whether the officer has been relieved from his duties but he will likely lose the certification that allows him to drive a vehicle on the tarmac, Guglielmi told the Chicago Tribune.
"The activity and behavior demonstrated in that video poses a significant risk to the officers and overall aviation safety on the airfield," he said. "The superintendent was furious about what he saw."
