Some parents are calling for a Huggies wipes recall after a mom in Tennessee claimed to have found bits of fiberglass in a batch of baby wipes recently.

Kelsea Andrews, of Knoxville, Tennessee, told WBIR-TV that she contacted Huggies last week after finding what she described as shiny particles embedded in a batch of baby wipes. Others across the country lodged similar complaints and a video showing the shiny specks soon went viral online.

One clip, recorded by Melissa Estrella of Camarillo, California, and posted on her Facebook page Thursday, drew 6.5 million views.

"If you can see all of this stuff shining on the wipes, that is all glass," Estrella says in her video, according to KTLA-TV. "All we have to do is wipe and glass comes right off."

Andrews and others feel Huggies has not done enough to relieve parents' fears and said the company should recall the wipes immediately.

"They are not issuing any kind of recall and say this is all safe," Andrews told WBIR-TV. "I just don't know how you can do that when they say they haven't even gotten any of the wipes from parents to examine them."

Huggies parent company Kimberly-Clark issued a statement recently saying that Huggies wipes have been investigated for signs of fiberglass.

"Recognizing that there has been a great deal of discussion regarding Huggies wipes, we are able to share the outcomes of a comprehensive analysis completed by the independent testing firm, McCrone Associates Inc., of the wipes that were returned to us," the company stated.

"We can confirm no glass or fiberglass was present. We found only microfibers used to manufacture our baby wipes. A shimmer can be caused by the microfibers reflecting light," the company's statement continued.

Andrews persisted, though, and said the company statement does not account for some packages having the shiny particles and others not having them.

"We have bought the wipes in bulk from a couple of different places," she said. "We have one batch that is clean. There's nothing shiny or sparkly about it. If we go to the other bags that are from the natural care, it does look like bits of glass in it. It's very sparkly. That is not normal."
