Harvey Weinstein accuser Rose McGowan says a person from her past is threatening to release a sex tape and plans to speak up about her recreational drug use.
In retaliation, the 46-year-old "Charmed" star confronted the blackmail situation on social media.
"I let the wrong person touch me," McGowan wrote in a tweetstorm fired off Thursday morning. Now the "person from my past" is "allegedly threatening to release a sex video of me and say I enjoy recreational drugs," she continued.
McGowan admitted she has dabbled in drug use but said it was her right to live as she saw fit.
"I am an adult in supposedly the 'freest country in the world,'" but the price for "living a free and full life" now means being bullied and blackmailed, she added.
"So, here's a heads up: if yet another stolen sex tape goes online, or if you hear (clutch those pearls!) that I enjoy recreational adult pursuits, know that it was never my intention to discuss my private life in this way."
McGowan was one of the first women to come forward with accusations against Weinstein of sexual misconduct. In October she filed a lawsuit against him and two of his former lawyers, claiming they conspired with a private intelligence firm and engaged in racketeering to discredit her rape allegations.
Known for being vocal and using social media as her platform, McGowan became a prominent figure in the #MeToo movement. Earlier this week, she again spoke out against Weinstein following an interview in which he complained about being "the forgotten man" and insisted he "pioneered" the way for women in the entertainment industry.
Not long after the interview was published, 23 of Weinstein's accusers slammed him for the remarks in a combined statement.
"He says in a new interview he doesn't want to be forgotten," the women wrote. "Well, he won't be. He will be remembered as a sexual predator and an unrepentant abuser who took everything and deserves nothing."
McGowan used the ordeal to take another swipe at Weinstein.
"I didn't forget you, Harvey. My body didn't forget you," she wrote in a tweet. "I wish it could. I refused to sign an NDA after it happened because I knew I would come for you. And I did. This is about stopping a prolific rapist. You."
