Hannity: GOP Candidates Are Embracing Conservatism

By    |   Thursday, 13 October 2011 04:23 PM EDT

Bold conservatism will save the country, and the Republican presidential candidates are moving forcefully in that direction, Sean Hannity said on his radio show today.

“If we get conservatism embraced . . . we can do so much better,” Hannity said. “It’s such a wide-open opportunity here.”

He said he supports businessman Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan, as well as Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s proposal to lift restrictions on energy exploration.

The United States should “immediately drill” to help get out of the recession, Hannity said.

“As soon as we start drilling, the Middle East is going to drop their prices to convince us to stop,” he said. “If I only could do one thing . . . I’d roll back the horrendous restrictions that are imposed by Team Obama . . . I would allow energy exploration immediately.”

Hannity has not endorsed a candidate and said he won’t, at least right now. The 2012 contest will come down to voters’ individual decisions, he said.

“People are thinking for themselves,” he said. “This is not a time for half measures. There’s going to be more ups and downs. You’ve not seen the last of the topsy-turvy polls. Someone’s going to mess up. This is why not endorsing is a good thing.”
