A Great Dane named Kora got stuck in a tree after climbing up on Saturday, and was soon rescued by the local fire department.
"She never hit the ground," said Jon Hardy, a lieutenant with the Plattsmouth Fire Department in Nebraska,
USA Today reported. "It worked like we hoped."
"I’ve been doing this 12 years and this is first dog we got out of a tree," he added.
The department shared video of the rescue via Facebook on Saturday.
Kora's owner, Wes McGuirk, said he returned from Omaha to his home in Louisville to find the 120-pound dog had jumped a 5-foot fence and scaled her way up a nearby tree — likely in pursuit of a squirrel.
When McGuirk realized he wasn't able to get her down by himself, he called for help.
Hardy told CBS he thought "dispatch was messin' with us" when he initially heard about Kora's tale. The Plattsmouth Fire Department was covering calls that night for Louisville, as that area's emergency teams were attending a recognition dinner.
Once he arrived on the scene, however, it was clear to see it was no joke.
"I looked out my window and, 'yeah, there's a 120-pound dog up that tree,'" Hardy said.
The rescue team was eventually able to slip a leash and harness on Kora, and slowly lowered her down.
She slipped out of the harness on the way down, but firefighters were holding a canvas tarp to catch her and break her fall. She quickly scrambled out of the canvas, however, and walked off as if nothing had happened at all.
