South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said although he acknowledges an agreement on the debt ceiling is needed, at least half the House GOP conference needs to vote for it to make it viable.
Graham also predicted Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” members and supporters of the tea party would oppose the deal, according to
Politico.
“I think that’s the minimum, because I like John Boehner” Graham said on ABC’s “This Week.” “Maybe he can get more, but it’s a $3 trillion package that will allow $7 trillion to be added to the debt over the next decade.”
Graham said he was not sure where he is going to “land” on the deal, but he was clear on how tea party supporters would vote.
“When you tell tea party folks and — quite frankly — people like me, we’ve won, the answer would be: Wait a minute, we’ve changed the culture in terms of raising the debt ceiling, but in the next decade, you’re adding $6 trillion to $7 trillion additional money to the debt — the government continues to grow,” he said.
